This easy method of putting
together a fancy little lampshade makes a great lap project. And, it’s
a perfect way to use up scraps, remnants, and vintage trims.
Measure off approximately
3 yards of Hug
Snug or ribbon. Starting at any rib wire, place a drop of glue on
the Hug
Snug and press it against the bottom wire until it catches. (This
starting place is considered the back of the lampshade.) Wrap the Hug
Snug around the frame from bottom to top, outside to inside. Keep
the Hug
Snug tight and every couple of wraps or so, place a drop of glue on
the wire to keep the Hug
Snug from slipping. The Hug
Snug will tend to overlap more at the top of the frame than the bottom.
Wrap the Hug
Snug around each rib wire twice.
To add another length
of Hug
Snug splice the two ends together with some Quik Glue at a top or
bottom wire (these splices will be covered when the decorative trim is
added). When the back of the shade is reached, finish off with a drop
of Quik
Glue. Trim and decorate to taste and style.
