Before beginning, experiment
by oiling various paper scraps with a variety of oils and give them a light
coat of matte finishing spray. Oil may be tinted with oil base stain. The
oiling process will change the character of the paper by making it more
translucent.
Complete a lampshade including
any decorative painting or decoupage and apply paper binding. Liberally
paint on oil and set aside for 12 hours to allow the paper to absorb the
oil. Wipe shade inside and out with a soft cloth or paper towel and apply
three light coats of finishing spray.
