Spray the entire outside of
the shade with a light coat of metallic gold, brass, or bronze paint.
When the paint is dry sponge
on random layers of antique gold, rust and brown acrylic paint until you
simulate the look of an old mica lampshade. Other colors can also be added
if desired. When the acrylic paint is dry spray the entire outside of
the lampshade with matte finishing spray. Add binding and decorative trim
or punch holes and lace as desired.
Fiberglass may also be lightly
spray painted or air brushed to reproduce lampshades popular in the 1950's.
